Professional athletes and entertainers have unique and often complicated professional lives and finances due to many factors, including a) inconsistent cash flow b) risk of injury c) uncertain window of employment, and d) unlike almost all other professions, cutthroat competition of others trying to take their jobs away.

At OCM we proactively gameplan to prepare and protect our clients for whatever comes their way by handling day-to-day financial and business matters.  We can stay on top of and ahead of their business "Off court" as we are continuously monitoring, analyzing, and reporting back to them changes and updates in areas such as spending, risk management, savings, tax planning & contract reviews. We intentionally make them aware of their "Business" so they feel empowered, educated, and encouraged to be active participants in their financial and business lives. We are quite unconventional in that we are transparent, unbiased, and laser-focused.

NIL SERVICES

In the ever-changing NIL world, as state and federal laws, as well as NCAA regulations, are constantly in flux, it's crucial to know the do's and don'ts to ensure compliance and maintain college eligibility. Via strategic alliances with NIL agents, and university collectives, as well as our relationships with attorneys who specialize in nil regulations, we are all-in when it comes to helping student-athletes navigate the ever-changing nil landscape.

When it comes to taxes, we have been advising student-athletes on their taxes. This includes tax planning, tax return preparation, guidance on entity formation, state of residency advice, estimated tax filings, and retirement account decisions. If we don’t know the answer, we will find someone who does. TRANSFER PORTAL

The transfer portal has significantly changed the landscape of collegiate sports. As such, and with literally thousands of students, both undergraduate and graduate entering it annually, it is overwhelming to navigate the portal on your own. Student-athletes have to make decisions involving nil opportunities, conferences to consider taking their talent to, playing time, and even their player development. Our experience and relationships with coaches, athletic depts., collectives, and our familiarity with the player personnel needs certain schools are seeking, can help streamline the portal process and reduce the stress and pressures once entering the portal.

​​BUDGETING AND CASH FLOW ANALYSIS

Budgeting and cash flow analysis are essential tools for athletes to manage their finances effectively.  We track all income earned from team salaries and endorsements as well as all other sources of income. On the expense side, we record all spending including home expenses, travel, agent fees, training expenses, and charitable giving.  Based on your net cash flow we work with you to determine how much money to set aside for future goals including home purchases, college savings, and retirement.  It is crucial to begin using these financial tools as early as college to help you make smart money and life decisions for decades.  Given so much uncertainty on how long your professional athlete career will last, mapping out a financial game plan is paramount to your long-term financial stability.​​​
